Paul received his Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley in 2014. While a graduate student, Paul's potential for design was recognized via his participation in the 8th Annual International Biennale on Landscape Architecture in Barcelona, the Eisner Prize for Creative Arts in Landscape Architecture, and as a Finalist for the Olmsted Fellowship from the LAF Foundation.

Prior to enrolling at Berkeley Paul completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Howard University in Washington, DC. While a student at Howard, Paul began creative writing and enriched his interests in design with coursework in architecture.
